Travelling across zones within London

Confused about travelling on the London Underground? What does it mean when a station is in zone 2/3?

Suppose you are travelling from Kensal Green in zone 2 (the station nearest to InnLondon) to North Greenwich and back.

North Greenwich is in zones 2/3. Going towards the direction of zone 3 means that you will pay zone 3 fare if you exit at North Greenwich. BUT on your return journey to Kensal Green you will travel in the direction of zone 1, so you pay zone 2 fare.

You don’t have to be rich to travel well.
